Eco Impact

An estimated 332 million sheet masks will be used every year from 2026, mostly single use and made from plastics like polyester and rayon, not to mention the millions more clay masks which are sold every year.

The vast majority of these are also packaged in plastic containers. Many are also packed with synthetic chemicals like parabens and silicones, which don’t just sit on your skin but wash away into our water systems. Basically, every time we use a traditional face mask we’re adding to a mountain of waste.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. By switching to an eco friendly face mask you’ll be switching away from plastic and harsh chemicals, to biodegradable masks and natural formulations. These are face masks that really work - so you can still get all the skincare benefits without the environmental guilt. The future of beauty doesn’t have to be wasteful - it can be clean, conscious and just as effective.

Why I love this

I love a face mask, and this one’s a real treat - it’s satisfying to peel off, and my skin always feels fresh and clean afterwards. It’s a bit fiddly to get it right and I prefer a ready-to-use mask, but when you get the hang of it it's got that proper spa-at-home feel. Delightful!

How to use

Place 5–6 heaped spoonfuls in a bowl. Gradually whisk in lukewarm water or suitable toner (up to 75ml) to form a soft paste. Apply a thick layer to cleansed skin, avoiding the eye area and hairline. Leave for at least 10 minutes, peel off gently, then rinse away residual bits. Follow with your preferred moisturiser.
